    Each year in Las Vegas, companies from a variety of industries and all corners of the world give the public a glimpse of their latest inventions at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Health care and life science products have featured prominently in the past, mostly in the form of personal health tracking devices. And this year's event was no exception. From mirrors to improve mental health to talking AI toothbrushes, this year’s show ran the gamut of tech innovation. Click through the slideshow to see some of those on display.

  • BeamO by Withings

    Withings showcased their 4-in-1 health check device, BeamO. The device is about the size of a smartphone and works by using multiple sensors that beam light waves to interpret blood flow patterns, temperature, and acoustic information. All combined, the device works as a thermometer, electrocardiogram, oximeter, and stethoscope. Withings is awaiting FDA clearance for the device, but they hope to be able to launch in the summer of 2024. It is expected to retail for $249.95.

  • BMind by Baracoda

    We’ve had smart mirrors that track hygiene and vision, now Baracoda’s BMind mirror aims to manage your mental health. Using artificial intelligence, the mirror is able to assess moods by analyzing expressions, gestures and language. The device then generates personalized light therapy sessions or guided mindfulness exercises. The mirror also allows third-party providers to connect their apps; 40 providers are already compatible, including ThrivePal and Brains. The mirror should be available for sale at the end of 2024.

  • Vivoo UTI Test by Vivoo

    At last year’s CES event, Vivoo released a device that attaches to your toilet and provides urinalysis that is subsequently sent to your phone. This year, they got more specific and exhibited their stand alone urinary tract infection (UTI) test. The test takes 2 minutes and can be done in the comfort of your own home. The user urinates on a strip, then via a smartphone camera, the app scans the strip and gives the user the result in seconds. The user can send the results to a doctor to get a prescription if needed. Each pack contains 3 tests. The company hopes to have the product available in Q2 of 2024.

  • Oclean X Ultra S by Oclean

    Artificial intelligence was certainly the focus of CES 2024 and even the humble toothbrush is getting the AI treatment. The Oclean Ultra X toothbrush includes a real-time AI voice guide that provides tips on how to improve your brushing. As for the mechanics, the company states the toothbrush has up to 84,000 movements per minute. It comes with 3 brush heads and will be available in the US in the fall of 2024, retailing at $129.

  • COOLiFY Cyber by Torras

    The last 10 years have been the warmest on record, with 2023 being the warmest, so the trend in personalized air conditioning looks like it is only going to grow. Worn around the neck, the COOLiFY Cyber has 36 air outlets and claims to be the lightest wearable air conditioner. The device retails at $299 and is expected to be available in March 2024.

  • Nuance Audio Smart Eyewear by EssilorLuxottica

    EssilorLuxottica, a company that designs glasses for some of the biggest eyewear brands, announced Nuance Audio Smart Eyewear at this year’s CES. The glasses have been embedded with hearing technology for individuals experiencing mild to moderate hearing loss. Commenting on the glasses, EssilorLuxottica CEO Francesco Milleri said, “As we did in the vision space, we will be the first to remove the stigma of traditional hearing solutions, replacing it with comfort and style.” The glasses are expected to be available in the second half of 2024.
